Understanding FERPA
Advice, counsel and support from parents can frequently be a deciding factor in a student’s academic progress. Students are encouraged to communicate with their parents about the academic, personal or financial issues they face while they attend WashU.

Additional university announcements
At times, the University sends separate communication to family members about current events both on- and off-campus. These messages typically come from Chancellor Andrew D. Martin or Vice Chancellor Anna Gonzalez. In order to receive these messages directly, a parent or family email address must be linked to a student’s individual Student Information System (SIS) record.
Students can fill out a form to update their family member’s email address in their student record.
