The Family Webinar Series is here to keep families informed on all things WashU! We know you are integral to the success of your student, so we designed this webinar series around the questions we know you are, or will be, asking.
Fall 2024 Webinar Series
A Conversation about Student Engagement & Sorority & Fraternity Life
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 AT 5:30 PM CT
Learn about the co-curricular engagement and leadership opportunities that WashU has to offer! We know sometimes it might be overwhelming for your student or you might wonder if activities outside of the classroom are a distraction to your student’s studies. We want to assure you that it is actually just the opposite! Come explore the other classroom with Campus Life’s Sarah Edmondson, Associate Director for Student Involvement, and Zachary Littrell, Assistant Director for Sorority & Fraternity Life, as they present on overview of the co-curricular experience at WashU.
A Conversation about Academic Support
PRE-RECORDED
WashU provides many resources to help students achieve their academic goals. The Writing Center is one of those resources. Dr. Robert Patterson, Director of the Writing Center, and Dr. Andrew Collings, Director of the Learning Center, join us for two pre-recorded conversations on academic support and resources. The Writing Center provides writing support at any stage of the writing process from brainstorming and planning to reviewing and revising drafts of any writing. The Learning Center, known as the academic support hub of campus, offers academic mentoring sessions with the goal of teaching students how to study and develop effective study skills.
These pre-recorded videos will be shared in the October Family Ties.
A Conversation about Study Abroad
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9 AT 5:30 PM CT
Study abroad serves as one of many opportunities available to students who are looking to gain an additional perspective in their studies, meet new people, and explore different cultures. Students studying or participating in an internship abroad can choose a program that fits within their unique interests and goals. Representatives from each undergraduate academic division – College of Arts & Sciences, Olin Business School, McKelvey School of Engineering, and Sam Fox School of Art and Design – will join us for a conversation on selecting and applying to a program, resources available, and how to support your student contemplating and/or currently studying abroad.
